MentorVet launching new mentor certificate program, MentorVet Lift, in 2024.

Lexington, KY, January 9, 2024 – MentorVet will launch a new mentor certificate program beginning January 28, 2024 to support and grow mentors in the veterinary community. Providing quality mentoring is vital, and MentorVet Lift was designed to support veterinary mentors to ripple out evidence-based mentoring practices.

MentorVet Lift is a robust evidence-based mentor certificate program open to any individual associated with the veterinary profession interested in becoming a better mentor, gaining peer support, and learning skills to create and evaluate intentional mentorship structures. The program consists of self-paced online learning, monthly facilitated peer support meetings with fellow mentors, and a capstone project that applies course learning.

“Having now conducted over 4 years of research in mentorship and veterinary wellbeing, we are so excited to be able to offer a robust mentor certificate program to the veterinary community,” shared Addie Reinhard, DVM, MS, CEO of MentorVet. “MentorVet Lift will fill a gap that currently exists by supporting the individuals who are providing mentorship in the profession to make their mentorship even more impactful.”

The self-paced, interactive modules cover a wide variety of professional skills topics to give mentors the education they need to support others. In addition, a toolkit of mentoring resources are provided within the curriculum. During the program, mentors will become well-versed in providing effective mentorship, sustainable career practices, wellbeing and emotional support, inclusive mentoring practices, conflict management, adult learning, and creating & evaluating mentoring programming.

Once monthly, mentors in the certificate program will meet virtually for 1 to 2 hours in facilitated small peer groups to discuss program material and how it can be applied to their work. The course concludes with a capstone project to apply the mentoring skills that they are learning to develop their own mentoring structures within their organizations, hospitals, or communities.

The program will be piloted with a special track for VMAE.

The program will be piloted with a special track created specifically for individuals in organized veterinary medicine, MentorVet Lift for VMAE. Through the partnership with the Veterinary Medical Association Executives (VMAE), executive and elected leaders from several veterinary associations will go through the program together with a specific focus on supporting individuals within organized veterinary medicine.

Adrian Hochstadt, JD, CAE, VMAE’s CEO, shared, “we are thrilled to partner with MentorVet to create this special track designed to equip VMA leaders with the tools and training they need to bring best practice mentorship to their organizations and beyond. Even a few participants in this program have the potential of improving the lives of many of their colleagues.”

In addition to the partnership with VMAE, a select number of individuals who are veterinarians, veterinary technicians, practice managers, academic instructors, or otherwise associated with the veterinary industry can participate in the pilot program.
