IndeVets Partners with MentorVet to Provide Robust Mentor Training Program

Lexington, KY, May 14, 2024 – IndeVets, an industry leading veterinarian staffing company, is excited to announce a partnership with MentorVet to offer a comprehensive mentor training program to veterinarians within IndeVets. This initiative aims to develop the skills for IndeVets mentors to support recently graduated veterinarians and set them on a path toward success and fulfillment – increasing confidence, clinical experience, and community connection.

In the initial pilot, 10 veterinarians within IndeVets will participate in MentorVet Lift, a yearlong mentor certification program. Designed using evidence-based mentoring practices, MentorVet Lift develops mentors by providing self-paced online learning, monthly facilitated peer support meetings with fellow mentors, and a capstone project to create and evaluate intentional mentorship structures.

“We are so excited to be collaborating with IndeVets to train and develop their mentors through our new mentor certificate program,” shared Addie Reinhard, Founder and CEO of MentorVet. “MentorVet Lift supports individuals who are providing mentorship to make their mentorship even more impactful, and IndeVets is setting an industry-wide example for outstanding mentorship by investing in the development of their mentors through both internal support as well as leveraging our evidence-based external programming.”

Starting in June 2024, IndeVet mentors will work through self-paced, interactive modules covering a wide range of professional skills to give them the education they need to support themselves and others. Some of the topics covered include sustainable career practices, wellbeing and emotional support, inclusive mentoring practices, conflict management, adult learning, and creating and evaluating mentorship programming. Once monthly, IndeVets mentors will meet virtually for 1 to 2 hours in facilitated small peer groups to discuss program material and how it can be applied to their work. Marisa Brunetti, Chief Veterinary Officer of IndeVets, shared, “At IndeVets our focus is on ensuring our vets get the advocacy, support and career development that is often lacking in vet med. Partnering with MentorVet was a natural next step for both of our organizations since we are both focused on helping veterinarians thrive. We can’t wait to kick it off.

The 1-year course concludes with a capstone project that will apply the mentoring skills that they are learning to develop their own mentoring structures within IndeVets. To learn more about this program visit, mentorvet.net/lift.
